They go unclaimed because nothing in the workflow brings them to light.<\/p>\n A printed label leaves almost no trace in your order system. Once the order is canceled, the label becomes orphaned\u2014no open task, no alert, no line item requiring attention. Thirty days later, the window closes silently. No one ever sees a bill for it, which is precisely the problem: there is no invoice line to trigger a review.<\/p>\n Multi-channel sellers have it even harder. Labels generated within a marketplace tool, a 3PL portal, and a standalone platform are each stored in a different system, each with its own refund policies and deadlines.<\/p>\n Every serious shipping platform can list labels that were created but never scanned. Run this report every Monday for the previous week. A weekly schedule is important\u2014a monthly review pushes some labels dangerously close to the USPS 30-day deadline.<\/p>\n A label printed on Friday afternoon and dropped off on Monday will appear to have been unused for three days. Filter for labels older than five business days with no origin scan before you file anything. Requesting a refund for a package that is actually in transit creates a billing mess.<\/p>\n Most platforms let you select multiple labels and submit refunds in a single step.
